Let’s take a look at these unique cabin experiences now…

# 10  The Yezo – Japan

Nestled in the northern mountain range of Hokkaido in Japan, the YEZO is a retreat that uses its dramatic landscape and an experimental design approach to create a sanctuary in nature.

The roof has the visual impact of a shell and is suspended from a central concrete chimney. Built completely from eco-friendly materials, the whole cabin’s ecological impact is reduced. A unique combination of luxury and spatial necessity, this cabin will provide an idyllic stay unlike anything you have seen before!

# 9  Niliaitta – Finland

Studio Puisto, a sustainable interior design studio based in Finland, recently debuted the first prototype of cabins soon to be part of a larger hospitality project called Kivija¨rvi Resort.

Set in a woodland setting near the Salamaja¨rvi National Park, the resort’s first completed cabin is called Niliaitta. The name refers to the traditional storage structure used by the Sámi people to protect food and equipment from wildlife.

Built from ecological materials at the top of a high pillar, the unique design pays respect to the Sami culture in the region, while creating a great private space for guests to stay

# 8 Manshausen Island Resort – Norway

If stunning views and remote settings are your jam, then the Manshausen Island Resort in Norway is perfect for you! Set on an island off the coast of Norway, you can choose from one of seven seacabins with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows.

The glass and timber structures jut right out onto the green sea surrounds, and if you’re really lucky with the weather conditions, you may even spot the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed.

# 7 – Juvet Hotel Norway

If you want to get away from it all, then the Juvet Landscape Hotel is the place to do it. Proclaimed to be in a remote part of a remote village in a remote region of Norway, you will feel completely removed from the outside world here.

The cabin is a glass cube on stilts and it overlooks the forests of Norway. Juvet Hotel is modern, minimalist and incredibly cool with stunning mountain views.

# 6  – Atlantic Surf Pods, Stratton, United Kingdom

Enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of the British countryside in an Atlantic Surf-Pod! Think rolling green hills and cosy curved cabins all set on the picturesque Atlantic Farm in Cornwall.

An awesome getaway to head to with kids and pets, the site is eco-friendly and semi-off-grid with a small carbon footprint. Located on sprawling farmland that runs along the coast, Atlantic Farm is huge, welcoming, and totally convenient for a relaxing holiday.

# 5 Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort – Sodankylä, Finland

# 4  – Bivacco Brédy,  Aosta Valley, Italy

This is a hiking cabin unlike anything you have ever seen before! Sitting on a rock slab 2,528 metres above sea level, the shelter features a large window oriented towards the Grivola and Gran Paradiso mountains.

To preserve the pristine landscape, the cabin was prefabricated, delivered by helicopter and assembled in just a few days. Perched on the edge of a mountain overhang, you’ll have unobstructed views and feel like you are completely buried in nature.

# 3  – The Seeds, China

Based in the woodland setting of Jiangxi, China, these rounded holiday cabins are probably the most uniquely shaped cabins we have ever seen! The pod-like buildings got their name as they look like a collection of seeds and make up the Tree Wow hotel.

Inspired by natural forms to blend in with their surroundings, these pods were developed to create amazing views and to establish a relationship with the environment around them.

# 2 – The 72 Hour Glass Cabin, Sweden

The 72 Hour Glass Cabin was designed to harness the natural power of Swedish nature. A study saw five busy professionals spend 75 hours in the glass cabins and it reduced their stress levels by up to 70% just being ‘close to nature’.

So, if you are looking for a tranquil getaway, the glass cabin in the gorgeous Dalsland countryside could be the place to do it. The design is inspired by the barns and treehouses the designer grew up playing in. By stepping up into the cabin on pillars, you feel like you are up amongst the trees.
