Portable Rental Cabins: Your FAQs Answered

As a landlord

Getting a portable rental cabin at your place is a great decision.

You get instant access to additional space for an affordable price AND we deliver it right to your door (well, your front or backyard really) – what could be easier?

Even though the process is simple, you might have a few questions.

Chances are, we have answered those questions many times before! So, we’ve put together a list of the most common portable rental cabin questions and their answers. Read on to find out more!

How much do they cost?

Our portable cabin rental costs are really affordable with rental prices starting at $80 per week. Actual costs will be dependent on your location and the size of the cabin required.

Choosing a rental portable cabin offers convenience, affordability, and adaptability. Their portability means they can be quickly uses as temporary housing, offices, or event spaces, without the challenges of traditional construction. These cabins are also designed for comfort, making them a easy choice. Check out the available cabins to rent in Auckland.

You will also need to pay a refundable bond of no more than $300 and a delivery fee. The delivery fee includes placement and levelling of your cabin as well as collection at the end of your lease – delivery costs will range from $150 to $350 depending on your access.

How big is a Just Cabin?

Our cabins come in three different sizes so that you can get the right fit for your situation:

  1. Standard cabin: 3.6m long x 2.4m wide
  2. Large cabin: 4.2m long x 2.4m wide
  3. Extra-large cabin: 4.8m long x 2.4m wide

You can check out the floor plans for each of the cabin options here.

How much space do I need?

You will need approximately 5m x 3m of reasonably level ground for your cabin to be placed on. We can level your cabin on uneven ground. Each cabin also requires at least 3.3m height clearance from trees, powerlines or house eaves.

If you are unsure if your space is appropriate for a cabin, our local team can visit you to check things out and make recommendations.

How are they delivered?

We handle all the delivery arrangements and delivery can usually be made within days of your booking. Our cabins are on a trailer which makes delivery and maneuverability easy. But, if access is difficult, we can arrange a hiab to lift the cabin over most obstacles – like carports, fences, retaining walls and even the house.

What does my access need to be like?

Entry access should be at least 2.7m wide so that the cabin can be towed onto your site. You’ll need approximately 5m x 3m of flat space for it to be placed and 3.3m of height clearance.

Will I need building consent?

No. But, we recommend checking your local council guidelines on this before renting a cabin. Our local team will also be able to give you guidance on this as well.

Does the cabin have power?

! Each cabin will have at least two double powerpoints, one internal light and one external light. All our cabins come with an Electrical Warrant of Fitness, a switchboard and smoke alarm for your safety and protection.

You can connect the power to your cabin via a heavy duty power lead (that we supply) and it plugs into any 3-pin power point in your home or builder’s box.

Are the cabins insulated?

Yes! Each of our cabins are fully insulated to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. They also come equipped with curtains that can be closed over the doors and windows.

What can I use the cabin for?

You can let your imagination run wild on cabin use. It can be a guest room, bedroom, extra lounge space, home office, home salon, home gym, extra office space, storage, or anything else!

Can I rent a cabin short or long term?

The short answer is yes.  In most cases there are minimum rental periods, and you can rent a cabin both for a short term or long-term depending on your needs. Have a chat with our local team and they will draw up a lease agreement that is suitable for your situation.

Once you have completed that minimum rental period, you only need to give us one month’s written notice to have your cabin collected. There is no separate collection fee and your bond will be returned provided the cabin is clean and undamaged.

How do I get a cabin?

Our cabins are available to rent nationwide, simply call us on 0800 58 78 22 or complete the contact form on our website and we will be in touch to make the arrangements.
